Cloudbursts hit Indian states

|| By Santosh

About 20 people are missing in India's Shimla hill town after a cloudburst on Wednesday. The district administration reported that the incident took place close to a hydroelectric power project in Samej Khad.

Top officials, including the district police head and another official are on their way to the scene, reports said.

Rescue crews are attempting to walk to the area because the cloudburst has disrupted road connectivity in the area.

Cloudbursts have also occurred at Mandi, another town in the scenic state of Himachal Pradesh, which is around 125 kilometers away from Shimla.

According to an official, landslides and traffic blockages have been caused by cloudbursts in Rajban village, which is close to Muhal Terang.

The monsoon rage has also disrupted daily life in Uttarakhand - a state next to Himachal Pradesh. In Jakhanyali, Tehri Garhwal district, a cloudburst resulted in two fatalities and one injury.

According to an official, following intense rain, the roof of a run-down house in Haridwar town collapsed, killing two kids and injuring nine more.
