South Korean retailer Lotte Corporation opened the Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi, one of the largest shopping malls in the capital, on Friday.
Located on Vo Chi Cong Street, Tay Ho District, the seven-story, 222,000-sq-m mall also has a five-star hotel with 264 rooms, 192 serviced apartments and a 21-story Grade A office building.
There is a supermarket, a cinema with 1,007 seats, a 9,000-square meter aquarium.
A Lotte Corporation manager said out of 233 brands that have leased space at Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi, 25 are in Vietnam for the first time. They include 32 flagship stores.
Currently the largest mall in Hanoi is Vincom Mega Mall Royal City with an area of 230,000 sq.m. Other major ones include Vincom Mega Mall Times City (200,000 sq.m), Aeon Mall Ha
Dong (150,000 sq.m) and Aeon Mall Long Bien (120,000 sq.m).
Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi used to be the Ciputra Mall, whose construction was started by Citra West Lake City Development Company in 2010.
But it stalled after the foundation was completed, and Lotte acquired it in 2017.
The South Korean giant has invested US$600 million in it.
In Hanoi, Lotte also has a commercial complex on Lieu Giai Street, Ba Dinh District.
