Laotian Times | The iconic Khua Din market, located in Vientiane Capital, will close temporarily next month to undergo major development.
Lieng Heng Enterprise Commercial Management, the market’s developer, has announced that the closure will take effect from April 25 until the completion of the new construction later this year.
The redevelopment project aims to enhance the market’s facilities and services, providing a more convenient, cleaner, and safer environment for vendors and customers alike. Despite the upgrades, the market will continue to uphold its Lao identity and present itself as a fresh market and wholesale-retail market.
Although details on the temporary designation of new areas for vendors and shop owners have not been released, the market’s management has assured the public that they will continue to enjoy the same range of fresh vegetables, meat, and other commodities that the market is locally known for.
Also known as Nongchanh market, Khua Din market is situated on Nongboun Road near the Morning market and Vientiane Center. Its reputation for being the earliest opening market in the area, between 3 am to 5 am, has made it a favorite among early-rising shoppers.
